Sir,

I have the honour to apply for the post of

Deputy Registrar of the Supreme Court, rendered vacant by the appointment of Mr. Bazeland to the Magistracy.

I may state that I have been connected with the Supreme Court from 1878 to 1898, having held various positions, such, for example, as that of Sheriff twice, for about a year one time and rather less another time, Marshal of the Vice-Admiralty Court also twice, as well as having previously been Deputy Sheriff and Deputy Marshal. I have also been Acting Judge's Clerk to the Chief Justice for seven months and a Commissioner of Oaths, &c., since 1881; work of all of which appointments is now either included in the Deputy Registrar's duties or he has the supervision of its performance.

Further than this I was also Acting Deputy Registrar a few years since.

Trusting that you will recommend my application to the favourable consideration of His Excellency the Governor,
